PRESS RELEASE:
THE INTERNATIONAL UNION, SECURITY/ POLICE, AND FIRE PROFESSIONALS OF AMERICA, AND ITS' LOCAL 506 SPFPA IS DEEPLY SADDENED BY TODAY'S TRAGIC EVENTS INVOLVING  TWO (2) OF OUR UNION SECURITY OFFICERS-BILL WIDMAIER AND JOE ALULLO. WE WISH TO EXTEND OUR DEEPEST SYMPATHY AND OUR MOST HEARTFELT CONDOLENCES TO THE WIDMAIER AND ALULLO FAMILIES FOR THE UNTIMELY DEATH OF OUR TWO (2) UNION BROTHERS.
BILL WIDMAIER SERVED AS CHIEF STEWARD/CHAIRPERSON FOR LOCAL 506 SPFPA FOR WELL OVER TEN (10) YEARS. HIS DEDICATED SERVICE WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN. BILL WAS ALWAYS THE GOTO GUY FOR EVERYTHING IN THE ARMORED CAR BUSINESS. HIS EIGHTEEN (18) YEARS OF EXPERIENCE HAS HELPED HIS UNION BROTHERS AND SISTERS BY OBTAINING SERVERAL SUCCESSFUL CONTRACTS, AND WINNING SEVERAL GRIEVANCES. BILL AS A PERSON WAS GRUFF AT TIMES, BUT A VERY LOVEABLE GUY. HE HAD A VERY TAKE CHARGE I CAN GET IT DONE ATTITUDE, BUT WHEN IT CAME TO NEGOTIATIONS HIS ATTITUDE WAS ALWAYS WHATEVER IS GOOD FOR THE MEMBERS OR AS HE CALLED EVERYONE "THE GUYS", WHICH ALWAYS INCLUDED THE WOMEN MEMBERS. I WAS ALWAYS REMINDED OF BILL'S SERVICE IN THE PHILADELPHIA POLICE DEPARTMENT. MOST OFTEN WHEN BILL DISAGEED WITH THE WAY I WAS RUNNING THE UNION. HE WOULD OFTEN SAY WHEN I WAS A POLICE OFFICER, THIS IS THE WAY WE DID IT. BUT, OVERALL BILL WAS A TOP NOTCH STEWARD, AND A MAN'S MAN, HE WAS THE JOHN WAYNE OF LOCAL 506. BILL WILL BE MISSED TERRIBLY BY EVERYONE AT LOOMIS WHO HAS WORKED WITH HIM OVER THE YEARS. THE UNION WILL DEFINETLY MISS BILL, HIS DEDICATION, HIS ATTENTION TO DETAIL, AND MOST OF ALL HIS HUMOR. WHEN CIRCUMSTANCES SEEMED DIOR, BILL WAS ALWAYS THERE TO LIGHTEN OUR BURDEN. HE WILL BE MISSED.
JOE ALULLO  ALTHOUGH I DID NOT KNOW JOE AS WELL AS BILL, WHENEVER I WOULD CALL TO TALK TO BILL WIDMAIER ABOUT SOME ISSUES THAT WERE OCCURING AT THE TIME, JOE WOULD ANSWER THE PHONE (KNOWING IT WAS ME CALLING) WITH A STRANGE OR FUNNY GREETING. I RECENTLY HAD THE PLEASURE OF MEETING JOE AT A RATIFICATION MEETING IN JUNE. HE INTRODUCED HIMSELF AS BILL WIDMAIER'S PERSONAL SECRETARY. FROM THAT DAY ON EVERYTIME I CALLED BILL, I WOULD MAKE IT A PRIORITY TO SAY HI TO JOE. JOE WAS A TEDDYBEAR , HE ALSO A BIG LOVABLE FUNNY GUY. WE HAD A RUNNING GAG, WHEN I RETURNED BILL'S CALL MAYBE A DAY LATER, JOE WOULD ALWAYS SAY," BILL IT MUST BE THURSDAY LOU'S CALLING YOU BACK." IT WAS KIND OF IRONIC THAT THESE TWO (2) FINE GENTLEMEN HAD TO SPEND THEIR LAST "THURSDAY" ON EARTH LIKE THIS, NEITHER OF THESE GUYS DESERVED THIS FATE.
I AWAYS HAD IT IN THE BACK MY MIND THAT BILL WOULD JUST WALK AWAY AND QUIETLY  RETIRE. WHEN THE NEXT CONTRACT CAME UP, THE UNION WOULD TAKE HIM OUT OF HIS RETIREMENT FOR HIS EXPERTENCE ONE MORE TIME, BUT WE ALL KNOW ITS' NOT GOING TO BE.
SAFETY FOR OUR OFFICERS IS ALWAYS THE UTMOST PRIORITY FOR THIS UNION, WE WILL CONTINUE TO WORK TOWARD THIS GOAL, SO NO MEMBER OR THEIR FAMILIES WILL HAVE TO GO THROUGH THIS AGAIN.

LOU TARTACK, PRESIDENT LOCAL 506 SPFPA
